A Proven Pump Blends With A New Contemporary
Station Design
In the FORMULA X®, we
have taken the heavy-duty Smith & Loveless
Non-Clog Pump and wrapped it in a new
contemporary above grade pump station design.
More than 20,000 of these proven vacuum primed
pumps have been installed since Smith &
Loveless developed the vacuum primed concept.
The preference over submersible or self-priming
installations can be found in its efficiency,
reliability and design that promotes long life
and ease of maintenance.
Everything
in the new FORMULA X® revolves around
this operator-preferred pump. Our dedication to
engineering excellence is evident in every pump
we make. A few of its features include:
-
Pump design so that priming
is not greater than 60 seconds, under
standard rated conditions.
-
Trimmed impellers are
provided for optimum selection to specific
pumping conditions. (See the new X-PELLER™
information below.)
-
Published efficiencies that represent the true pump efficiency. There
are no belt losses, bleed line losses, or
other losses to be added. Also, Smith &
Loveless' published "static"
suction lift includes friction and entrance
losses in the suction line and simplify
selection.
-
Clog resistant straight run
from the wet well through the suction line
into the eye of the pump impeller. There are
no suction restrictions with this pump.
-
Energy efficiency is
maximized in each of the Smith &
Loveless Pumps.
With Smith & Loveless' latest impeller
innovation, even extreme pumping
applications and very low flow installations
can be handled with the balanced mono-port X-PELLER™
impeller.
In numerous field tests, the X-PELLER™
has proven that it effectively expels high volumes of stringy
materials, rags and other unusual trash
items.
FORMULA
X® and the proven Smith & Loveless
Non-Clog Pump are as innovative as they are
practical. Combine this with other innovations like the trimmable X-PELLER™
and you have a new formula for
high-performance pump stations. Follow the
new trend in pump station design. FORMULA
X® by Smith & Loveless.
A Simple 4-Step Vacuum Priming Process
The Smith & Loveless Vacuum
Priming System is a simple proven 4-step process
that includes just three basic components: a
prime sensor, a solenoid valve, and a vacuum
pump. Just like other aspects of the FORMULA
X®, the vacuum priming system has been
updated to deliver even more dependability.
|
Step 1.
|
The wet well
level sensor calls for the pump to
start.
|
|
Step 2.
|
The pump
prime sensor determines whether the pump
is primed. If the sensor indicates the
pump is primed, the pump turns on. Steps
3 and 4 are not required.
|
| |
The
S&L Pump is designed to stay primed
indefinitely.
|
|
Step 3.
|
When Step 2
occurs and the prime sensor indicates the
pump requires priming, the vacuum pump
comes on and the solenoid valve opens.
The vacuum pump evacuates air from the
pump suction line and the pump through
the ½” diameter vacuum tubing. This
causes wastewater to fill the pump
volute and prime the pump.
|
|
Step 4.
|
When the
prime sensor indicates the pump is
primed, the solenoid valve closes, the
vacuum pump shuts off and the pump turns on. This is all done in a
few moments - simply, reliably and
dependably. In more than 20,000
installations worldwide.
|
From a totally non-primed
condition, the system is designed to prime the
pump in about 60 seconds under standard rated
conditions. Once the Smith & Loveless Pump
is primed, it is designed to stay primed indefinitely. As you dig deeper into the Formula
X® details, you are going to find more
and more operator-friendly features that you
are going to appreciate.
In the interest of technological progress, all products
are subject to design and/or material change without
notice.
